Modern Jazz Footage 2012 - 2013
This style of dance encompasses components from jazz, modern and ballet techniques. Students warm up with stretching, isolations, strengthening exercises, and "across the floor" exercises such as turns and leaps. The class ends with a combination that is danced to a variety of styles of music. Jazz shoes, dance sneakers or bare feet acceptable.
- Louis DeVaughn Nelson is a multidisciplinary artist and founder of The Hokum Arts Production Group. His works have been shown in many venues in USA and Europe, from ballets to fine art exhibitions. Nelson was named Best New Choreographer by Philadelphia City Paper and has been recognized for his video work that delves into cultural and movement research. He studied dance and playwriting at DeSales University and Drexel University, and has over seven years of experience teaching dance at The Haddonfield School of Dance (New Jersey, USA), The Koresh School of Dance (Philadelphia, USA), The University of the Arts (Philadelphia, USA) and Studio Motion (Berlin, DE).
