Bassel Safadi (Khartabil) briefly describes a project of his involving a 3D reconstruction of the ancient city whose first mention in tablets dates back to the 19th century BCE and which gained prominence in the 3rd century BCE as a functional crossroads for east-west trade.
Bassel delivered this presentation from Syria via Skype in April of 2011 at a Design + Technology Salon at the San Francisco Art Institute. The audience that evening was lucky for the opportunity to speak with him - since March 2012 he has been detained without cause in Damascus.
