PROJECT VIEWFINDER, an outreach effort of the School of Film, teaches the tools of filmmaking to young adults transitioning from homelessness to self-sufficiency.

Mentored by lead faculty member Bushra Azzouz and supporting instructors, these youth worked in front of and behind the camera to find their voices as media makers, sharing personal stories about the struggles of homelessness and the transitions they are now trying to make to lives of hope, joy, and self-sufficiency. Together, the works are a poignant reflection on an often overlooked and misunderstood aspect of community vitality and livability.

The premiere screening of PROJECT VIEWFINDER was on May 1, 2013 at the Whitsell Auditorium inside the Portland Art Museum. nwfilm.org/youngfilmmakers/projectviewfinder/
