That had a really weird vibe; it felt like you were dead or something. The shots were nice.

uhm...Dalas...I got a call from Kimberly Winter today...she noticed that I'm subscribed to your clips on vimeo and she said if I happened to watch any of them that I should have you give her a call...
  • dalas verdugo staff 4 years ago
eventually she gave up trying to call me and they sent me a letter by certified mail saying that they were considering me "voluntarily resigned".

wow this is now one of my fav clips on vimeo, really well done

i am a cingular customer though i'm afraid
  • dalas verdugo staff 4 years ago
the good news: Cingular is specifically targeting their customer service as an area that needs improvement, so if you ever have a problem you can talk someone into caving in to your demands.

bad news: that company is really not cool. i'm not sure if any of the cell companies are decent entities, but Cingular is definitely not.
  • Carleton 4 years ago
I've never really had that many issues with my cell service that would warrant contacting customer service, but now that you've brought it to my attention I will be mindful of it if I ever do make such a call.

Oh wait, I just remembered my phone won't send pictures and they couldn't tell me why. Bastards. Lucky for them I just stopped caring.
  • dalas verdugo staff 4 years ago
most likely that means that they needed to add a feature to your account (known as a SOC). if you actually cared you could call them up and then ask for a supervisor if the first person is too dumb to figure it out. eventually they will fix it for you (they want you to be able to run up a huge bill).

It's pretty standard practice now to be ejected from the office as quickly as possible for any reason. One way to avoid getting fired is to get a job in France where it's difficult to be fired. Remind me never to start a business in France where, if one is fired, he can incite riots, sue his employer for wrongful termination, then win or lose he could/did/dude,noway incite more riots.

Dalas, please don't incite a riot and get sent to prison. I know you would meet more "friends" as mentioned above, butt we need your view on the world and more pretty clips like this one.

You'll find a better job. Good luck. BTW, my boss gets one year salary plus all benefits for a couple years when he's fired or quits for any reason. Deservedly, though.
  • dalas verdugo staff 4 years ago
i solved the problem by becoming my own boss. i promise to never kick myself out of my office.

This reminds me of the imaginary conversations we'd have between you and your boss when you quit.
boss: "dalas you've shown up hours late to work every day this week"
dalas: "I'm not late, that's just how I roll"

I get really anxious listening to this clip. I hate getting nagged in general, but for some reason, nagging voicemails are much worse.

Most anxious moment: When she said she left a message with your spouse. AAAaaaaahhhhh!

    That arboretum looks nice, though.

yeah, i never knew that my boss wanting to track me down constituted an "emergency". what a bunch of slimy dudes.

Kimberly is a bit dim and persistant huh?! love the story untold, "it's kind of important!" ha ha, what could possibly be of any importance compared with time in a beautiful park on a beautiful day, Under-Managers do not like it when you fire them, it turns their futile little world so upside down. VJ net, no offence but the word used was "gay-riffic" not gay, it is a word that does not really exist and so must be taken in an ironic and humourous way, nothing about dalas seems disrespectful or offensive.

I was working in a kitchen once during a busy saturday with few dishes and no dishwashing KP to help (very unhygienic) So I took off my apron and walked with the under-mutterer muttering some waffle or other behind me about responsibilities. These kinds of people suck. A super film. A decent human being.

Yeah...hi...it's Bill Lumbergh again. I just wanted to make sure you knew that we...uh...did start at the...uh...regular time this morning.

Yeah, it isn't a half day or anything like that. So if you could get here as soon as possible, that would be terrific.

i used cingular for several years in college, because my school gave me this discounted deal through them. but they sucked big floppy donkey dick*, so i switched to t-mobile.

*please, no offense to donkeys and/or people who suck dick and/or people who suck donkey dick...it's just a colorful figure of speech.

Ok... another great piece of video. I love the fact that there is nothing other than the voiceover of the "sincere" team manager trying to show concern for Dalas when it is obvious the structure of the employer employee indentured contract has been broken. The otherwise peaceful, silent imagery mixed with the turmoil of the matrix trying to latch back on to the soul of a free spirit who has broken free.

Pardon my ignorance, but what did Kimberly do to deserve not having her call returned with a simple "I quit"? I see all these accusing comments of how she doesn't actually care, how you not showing up to work isn't really an emergency... If you disappear from work without a word, I'm not really sure what people think would be better for a manager to do. Not call? Not care? Just replace you and move on? Obviously all I know of the story is those voicemail messages, but those are my thoughts on this video.
  • dalas verdugo staff 2 years ago
There are two sides to every story, for sure. There are no real villains here.

There were reasons that I could not formally quit. A company the size of Cingular/ATT has a huge bureaucracy, and I assure you that everyone involved was just going through the motions.
