The upcoming Summer issue of Canadian Art includes a feature story on BC-born, Berlin-based artist Shannon Bool by Toronto writer Sara Angel.

Over the past few years, Bool's work has won increasingly wide renown: Charles Saatchi has collected her work; she has shown at Art Basel Statements; and several international curators have taken an interest in her art.

This video is an excerpt from Bool's short silent film Inside Job. Inside Job is based in Bool's wider project with female prisoners housed in a 19th-century Berlin building, and it contrasts the architecture's ornamental outer appearance with its de-individualized interior spaces. The film also features elements from an expansive wall painting that Bool has produced with the inmates.

To view more works by Shannon Bool, visit or pick up the Summer 2013 issue of Canadian Art, available June 15 on newsstands across Canada.
