John Haywood teaches traditional Appalachian music in Knott County, Kentucky. I shot this piece for the Picture Kentucky 2009 workshop (picturekentucky.org) in September in Hindman, Ky.

That backwards hillbilly label that is as he says given to him should not be a one of shame but one of pride.... What a great video and how I wish I lived near by to have him teach me old tunes such as "Roscoe Holcomb's" "Mexican cowboy" or "Moonshiner" or other greats like Soldiers Joy... Great video Thanks for posting this.. If you see this guy again give him a big "Rebel Whoop Holler" -
