92. Yo La tengo - A Take Away Show - Part 1
2 months ago
We dreamed about it, but never imagined that we'd be able to film Yo La Tengo. But it happened. It was a beautiful and sweet end to the afternoon in Montmartre. They didn't talk much, but we didn't care. The music was just great...

Songs : 'With a girl like you' (Troggs cover) / 'Our way to fall'

Don't miss the second part !!!! vimeo.com/6672215

Finally you did one of my favorite bands, couldn't be missing from the Take Away repertoire. Obviously fantastic again...;-)

Are those the children of Yo La Tengo?
  •
  • La Blogotheque plus 2 months ago
No, just French kids playing around ...

One of the greatest Troggs' classics always sounded to me like it was done by some New York band. And finally it happened! Among your very best, Vince!

I really love the shot of the girl with the water bottle. She just stops and watches, captivated. That's real, and that's awesome.

This is the sweetest thing. Lovely shooting, especially in the last minute or two. The ambient sound of spring and children is gorgeous as well.

what camera was this filmed with?
  • La Blogotheque plus 2 months ago
    A Panasonic P2
  •
  • Obsolete Films plus 2 months ago
It's not the camera it's the guy. That's the misconception most people make. Nobody asked Malle, Godard or Truffaut what cameras they used.
  • La Blogotheque plus 2 months ago
    Ouah, Moon's gonna like this ;) It's a man, a team, a spirit
  • steven mastorelli 2 months ago
simply curious about the equipment used, thanks for your positive input though

This is a video site. If someone could answer what camera it was filmed on it'd be nice. It's a very unique look. Also the color grading.
  • La Blogotheque plus 2 months ago
    As I told before, a Panasonic P2

  •
  • SIMON PACKMAN// my guess is that it is a D90
  • La Blogotheque plus 2 months ago
No, no. Even if we begin to film with them for other projects, all the Take Away Shows are shot with traditional cameras...

There should be an "I want to make babies with this video" button in addition to the "Like button."

Really outstanding video... the neighborhood chatter and noises from the kids are perfect in this one.

Nice, you mean Panasonic HVX200 right? not just Panasonic P2, why does everybody call HVX200 just P2? P2 is the format, like SxS...you dont say Sony SxS, or XDCAM EX, you should say Sony PMW-EX3, something like that. Nice video btw..
  • La Blogotheque plus 2 months ago
    Yeah, whatever. HVX200

I'll never get over the cheap video look and bad after effects or magic bullet plug ins.
  • La Blogotheque plus 2 months ago
We never used either After Effects or the magic thing...

I like the theme color, and the sound was clear that we could even hear every detail thing in that, awesome! Btw, how u made the color correction?

this magical parisian landscape you bestow upon americans seems unreal to a person trapped in the trite cage known as new york. the children's happiness almost seems unattainable, but luckily, mathieu's senses engages that spark of light, presenting it to the dark corners of the world that need that spark so very badly. during lunch, he expressed his dislike for cinema to me, and as i walk the dark corners of my world alone at 4am after a show, i totally agree with his disposition. i am running out of places to shoot, inspiration is fleeting, the light in my lense is dwindling. a collaboration with you is needed to keep my candle burning, please enlighten me with assignments.
