Fern was rescued on September 17 from a mobile home in which she had been caught in a steel leg-hold trap for a period of days. She was emaciated, dehydrated, and her leg was crushed beyond repair.

It has been just four days since surgery to amputate Fern's leg. She is recovering well and is as friendly and outgoing as ever.

Soon she will be ready to go to foster care for the rest of her recovery time.
