Clarke Johnson, a respected volunteer who played a key role in pet therapy programs in this region, was posthumously awarded South Shore Health's spirit award, acknowledging his contributions and commitment to the heath district. The Heckman's Island resident died in January of this year. He was 68.
His wife accepted the award Tuesday during a special ceremony. An engraved dog tag for Rena, one of Mr. Johnson's therapy dogs, was also presented. (Story by Keith Corcoran)
