From ancient to modern times, great thinkers such as Plato, St. Augustine, and Henry David Thoreau have seen the dangers of a life lived superficially and have exhorted their followers to wake up from life's slumbers. God's desire is for us to see the potential inside of us and to embrace our identity as sons and daughters of God. We can live this deeper identity and experience true peace, satisfying love and lasting joy. And we don't have to escape our life to find it; we simply have to wake up.
