    Mind blowing,

So good to see what a separate editor does with your stuff. Who did the edit? The pacing, the cuts, the tension it's truly brilliant.

I don't the guy's name but he did a brill job

Having been there for most of the shoot, I am really proud of this one! The vivacity, the ferocity & the chaos that is Delhi seeps through every frame of this! Kudos the the editing team & most specially to you Phil, this really is a fantastic video.

    Q. Are you gonna be tossing out your own edit of this as well? I'm sure there's a ton of footage you have that isn't used here...
  • Philip Bloom plus 2 months ago
    Yes i will Gaurav

    Thanks for all your help!

I love the look you created with the 5D. The contrast and deep black level in midday footage really help convey the message of the piece.

Would you have use the 7D or the 5DMarkII if you had a choice?
  • Philip Bloom plus 2 months ago
I would have used the 7d for the slow motion

    To add my two cents-
Description- 'Powerful' comes to mind. Some really poignant shots perfectly framing the narrative. Great work.
Looking forward to a "shoot story" film.

Spectacular work. I don't want to distract too much from the message and art of this (both indisputably top-notch!), but if you were to shoot this today would you choose the 5D again or the 7D?

Delhi is such an amazing place to shoot! Some of this reminds me of the excellent transitional montage sequences in Monsoon Wedding... which is also a 16mm film that shows how you shoot is more important than what you shoot on!
  • Philip Bloom plus 2 months ago
maybe the 7d to get some slow motion
  •
  • Lorne Guy plus 2 months ago
You and that 5D work wonderfully. Seeing more and more reasons to shoot with it or the 7D

This looks incredible. Too bad there is nothing you can do about climate change because it's not a man made problem. The gov. wants you to think that so you can submit to their authority.

Providing clean water is something you can do though. So if you took the bit about climate change out this would be an incredible video.

The video is very nice and the technique is unquestionable, but the message is really significant. This aspect, for me, is the heart and strength of the Video.
This video popularize the message in a prefect manner

    Complimenti, bellissimo.

Your DP work continues to inspire, but this is a different editing style from what I've seen you do before, impressive! Your last clip of Ishan on camera - and you hold the shot after he finishes talking - his body language is speaking volumes about his concern. You really nailed it. Greenpeace must be thrilled.

It is so encouraging to see this video Phil.
We all know the fantastic images this camera is capable of..and there are so many test, music video's, and shoots in controlled environments shot with this camera on vimeo.. To see the camera used in a real-world full scale production is just awesome!
    Great job!!

I've watched this video several times. It really has set the bar kind of high for both cinematography as well as post production. And it has a beginning, middle and end.

This is why you have such a loyal fanbase, because you are the s##t my friend.

I must say I find this one too your best piece. The places and the indian people are beautifully captured. Allthough the editing makes this a real intense experience, I would love it if you would make a long edit by yourself, because I have this slight idea there must be many more fantastic shots. I think your cinematography and this fantastic (but sad) country would make it the best video ever.

Added to my Brilliance Breakfeast channel!

(edit: just saw you already answered the question, can't wait for it!)

I remember your mentioning the trip to Delhi to do this Philip, then is all went quiet about the finished job. I thought, "Well, it'll turn up eventually and no doubt it'll look great as usual' However, now I've seen it, I wasn't actually prepared for just how bloody good it looks!
What a classy piece if work, fantastic.

    Avey

PS did I spot a city landscape shot from one of the towers in the Ras Masjid? Dehli's a great city. Completely bonkers of course but great never the less.
