We transfer systems from out physical world to the virtual. But what happens when we turn the process the other way around? "Aerosol" is an experiment which investigate this progress based on a particle system. The fascinating part about a system like the particle system are the emergent appearances. A tautly fabric surface deforming into a undulating landscape because of a grid of 25 servo motors attached to the fabric. Because of the deformation a bunch of small iron balls which are placed on top of the fabric getting in motion. It is possible to watch the particles evolve something like a behavior. There are loners who race over the fabric and run into others or groups who have a strong cohesion and rarely separating. The material is part of the calculation.
