This was a personal project that I started in 2001 and continued with it through 2004. I tell myself that it will never be complete. My goal - to document and archive the stories of the Delta Blues musicians - their music - but also their cultural stories and what gave birth to their music.

Sadly one of the musicians that I interviewed, Sam Carr passed away on September 21, 2009.

A quote from Sam -
"I lived a rich man's life in a poor man's shoes"

Rest in peace Sam - we love you.

I too shared in Gail's experience of interviewing Sam Carr. Our 14 year old (at the time) daughter Erin, was there too. We sat in fascination that day, listening to his story. Another of his memorable quotes from that day, describing his experiences with his band... "weez hav'in a good time ya know, that's all that was in it for me I didn't care too much about the money... I was glad to be surrounded by people, liken's what I was doin'n... which made me as big as the President, ha... that's the way I feel!"

It is indeed a sad day with the passing of the kindest, most gentle and talented man I have ever known. I spent alot of times together with Sam & Doris and now their match will truly be made in heaven, together. I miss you both, R.I.P.......
