A group of friends have been joined by family and friends for over 10 years to fish the lower Fitzroy River. This annual pilgrimage has been done in the hope that the elusive Barramundi will be caught. Barramundi, Lates calcarifer, is one of THE iconic sport fish in Australia.
The lower Fitzroy River in the Kimberley Region of Western Australia provides an idyllic location for our group to target this fish. We get to camp among majestic gums with a sprinkling of Boab trees on a freshwater pool. It is really “glamping” (glamour camping) with all essentials, and luxuries, well covered in the extended camp and kitchen.
We have particularly enjoyed the strong friendship that we have gained with others who make this journey, particularly John and Michelle.
Thank you to everyone who has joined us or thought about joining us, to those who have taken photos and caught little fish, big fish or on those rare occasions no fish. We hope that we can continue to do this in the years to come as our kids grow up.
