Inspired by the Sigma, the Concept and the Rumour, Keith Groombridge's own design moulded aerobatic slope soarer, the Kinetic, is probably the best you can buy today in 2013 and beats the Chinese aerobatic planes hands down with its super quality build. As its name suggests, this plane moves fast and holds on to its kinetic energy as you can see from a morning's flying at Folkestone in 'ordinary lift'. (The site is the hill overlooking the Channel tunnel site/station. Excuse the wobbly footage from my slope soaring quadcopter — no gimbal).
I do not have the exact details but the Kinetic comes in at just over 2kg, has a span of about 2.5m and a symmetrical wing section. Keith started to design this model by having MDF moulds for a prototype created in Eastern Europe from his CAD ideas. After a few design changes to his early prototype, 'regular' high quality production moulds have now been made and the carbon skinned model, with four servo RDS wing control, is ready for production. As you can see it is completely aerobatic, very fast and makes hardly a sound as it zips past hitting dive speeds of around 190kph with ease. Excellent plane, excellent flier and of course an excellent price for the slope expert and connoisseur.
(Kinetic from the Greek kinētikos, from the verb kinein to move)
