This is the first batch of test footage from my Nikon D90, everything was shot on the Nikkor 50mm 1.4 lens. All shots are handheld - obviously...really need to get a tripod or steadicam!..and I'm still trying to get the knack of following focus which has been pretty tricky so there is a lot of hit and miss in the vid some intentional some not...

this totally looks like Super 8 even the speed of it..dd you speed this up a bit?

Hey! I didn't do anything specifically to make the footage look more Super 8 aside from the grading.. But I think when I converted between formats..firstly AVI to Pro Res, then exported out of FCP to mov (and 24fps to 30 for Vimeo in the process) it definitely looked subtly different to the speed of the original. So I guess its just a side affect of the transcoding.

So many really beautiful clips -- it's ready-mad nostalgia, of children who have barely aged past the recording, in colors of 1960's Kodachrome -- really cool. Great edit clipping of boy jumping, which one anticipated in an earlier clip but did not happen, and the 1:02 cut at the thumping bass sound to the waters. I find the experimenting focusing works just fine for this. Oh, and really nice gull shot focus play.

Thanks for the comments! I shot it in Standard mode but I tweaked the Sharpening, Saturation and Hue settings.
