The Pittsburgh Penguins won back-to-back Stanley Cups in '91 and '92. Back then, KDKA-TV (CBS-Pittsburgh) aired Pittsburgh Penguins hockey games. As part of their broadcast, the station needed "bumper video" to go into and out of commercial breaks. The video would also be used for promos and under sponsor logos.

KDKA's Drew Moniot's concept called for a gritty, stylized look at what it's like to be inside the Penguin's locker room between periods of play. I shot all the footage in 35mm, with an Arri 35BL4 and Zeiss super-speed lenses. During film-to-tape transfer, we stripped the natural color, enhanced the film grain, and blew out the highlights to give the footage a gritty look. You'll see a very young Mario Lemieux and his team of amazing players.
