  • impactist 5 months ago
Indeed, it is "Smash" Williams. Good eye. Bonus points if you can pick out Luis from Sesame Street.

Luis is at 12 seconds! BOOM! Where do I pick up my points?
  • impactist 5 months ago
    Points are on their way...

Great; like all the other work you've done, really.
So exciting and inspirating, I'm really impressed.

Lovely. What cam did you use for this project?
  • impactist 5 months ago
A digital slr was used for this piece.

And a type of burst mode for certain "sequences"? Really amazing.
  • impactist 5 months ago
Everything was shot the same way with a continuous shutter. Every scene, every location photographed the same. The 'certain sequences' you are referring to were created using custom software, techniques, and lots of frame by frame reconstruction by hand in post.

Very impressive. Thank you for the insight.

    great editing and effects. great!

  • Do you just tell the actors to move as they normally would, but at a slower rate? or.....hmmm...not sure I fully understand this process. I've done stop motion before but it's taken absolutely forever to move from one side of the room to the other. Like from 26 seconds to 30 looks so natural in movement its ridiculous.
  • impactist 5 months ago
Our reply to Marcus' question probably clarifies things a little bit for you. This was not stop motion, but instead a technique we tested extensively ourselves. The production and post work shouldn't be considered separate since they were both created knowing how they'd fit together in the end.

I really love it, how you create a video-like sequence with only digital pictures. The morphing gives a great, neverseen before effect. Keep it up!

We tried to develop something a little bit different for this project. Happy to hear it resonated with you.

    you're too kind...

Well, may be I'm just impressed a bit too much. But still, and I'm talking not only of this video, you're really talented, creative *and* obviously you're able to work hard (I mean, making such videos takes way more than couple of hours, especially for only two people). So, you either are a great team, or will be:) Just keep going!
  • impactist 4 months ago
Yes, definitely more than 'just a couple hours', smile! But, this is what we do so we don't mind.

    Stay well.

Wow, can you describe in more detail the camera that you used? Nice work :)
  • impactist 2 months ago
We used a normal, readily available digital SLR camera.

    smile!
  • Texas Gentleman 2 months ago
Really!? Wow, how many fps did you shoot at?
  • impactist 2 months ago
    Around five or six maybe?

  • Texas Gentleman 2 months ago
That takes a fancy SLR, I think, right?
  • impactist 2 months ago
Just like we said initially when you asked... "a readily available digital SLR"... But, remember it's really not all about the tools.

Don't miss the forest for the trees.

There's a lot about video editing that i don't understand and this video is way out of my skillset. It's just so cool looking, I'd love to learn how to do this.
