I can't get over how underrated this doc is! Excellent piece of reporting, with plenty of contrasts and lots of departure points. Just about the best part of it was highlighting how many of the guys speak Mandarin. Very nicely done!

Something I find hard to grasp though is the apparent "financial difficulties" Coach admits to. I mean, it's hard for 4 working guys who drive cars and own flats and have families (likely with working wives) to come up with $100/game for a single weekend? Really?! I mean, what about league dues or at the very least a corporate sponsorship for the crew? A full squad of up to at least 12 African guys would make for an excellent promotional opportunity in Beijing (or anywhere else in China). Heck, I'd even sponsor a game or three myself just to enjoy some good footy. I thought this was the surging China at 10%/year growth. Some software engineers aren't at least pulling down $1,000/month in salary?

In any event, sensational job, Jer. I'm going to catch some more of your interviews right now.
