Gladden House is home to four social enterprises: Exsel CIC, Connector CIC, CommunIT and Total Reuse CIC. Exsel CIC has recently rebranded the showrooms from The West Lancashire Community Furniture Recycling Service to West Lancs Reuse. Connector are celebrating the expansion of the IKEA curtain making and alteration service along with a new partnership with Lancashire based Panaz who are one of the premier textile manufacturers in the world and Total Reuse were opening the new Tool Shed workshop. It made sense to have a joint celebration.
Moving The Sewing Rooms, 3RUpholstery and the Tool Shed into one section shows customers the full range of services that can be offered collectively, working under the banner of the Design Studio. All three projects started with a small grant from the Big Lottery Awards For All programme and the Tool Shed expansion has been supported by the Big Lottery Reaching Communities Fund proving that with 'kick start' funding social enterprise can become self sustainable.
Thank you to everyone who took the time to attend.
