Shortly before heading off for her first semester at UIC's MFA program, I got to spend the afternoon with local filmmaker and friend Oliva Ciummo.

We got to speak about the politics surrounding art and its appreciation, cultural relativism and funny and candid details about her time growing up in Pittsburgh.

I think Olivia as an amazing artist, and her aesthetic decisions always surprise me. I love watching what she is up to and enjoy being informed by her very inclusive approach to making.
