Have we missed out on aspects of why Jesus died? Was he just a risk taker? Back in 2000 in the faith zone of the Millennium Dome the Christianity exhibit referred to the "Tragic death of Jesus…" Many today within the wider church seem to see Jesus' death more in terms of a miscarriage of justice or a martyr for a great cause. But Jesus says different. In John 10 v 18 he says, "No one takes my life from me – I lay it down of my own free own accord." For us today is the Cross still the Crux? Is it still the centre of our experience and life with God or are we just tagging it on to a church going experience? Increasingly many Christians today have an incomplete understanding of why we need the cross of Jesus. We subtly fall for other solutions in dealing with the effects of sin on our lives and world. Let's be clear at its root the problem is sin, and Jesus is the answer.
