Yes 30p, you didn't read that wrong.

This was filmed for my upcoming 7d how to shoot video DVD for the section about recording sound separately. As most of the DVD was shot on the 5dmkII I kept the 7d at 30p.

If you want to see a transcoded 24p version using JES deinterlacer please go here: exposureroom.com/flaxen24p

BTW, what *did* you use to record sound? We plug a Sennheiser MKH-60 into a Zoom H4n.

Wow love the rainbow lens flare. Y'know, 30p is looking pretty good to me now... all that 24p fuss!

You techo you! Am off to do nightime timelapse in Dungeness. The scariest place I have ever been to. I may not make it back alive. How many shots you think I can get out of 5 hours?
  • Matt Choules 2 years ago
If you don't make it, can I have your various cameras and adapters?

Beautiful girl, beautiful voice, beautiful piece of magic!

The temptation of getting a 7D just got higher..

Btw, I think a few production units just arrived today at some local stores; reviews should come out soon :)

How do you record anamorphic aspect ratio like that? Sorry, I'm kind of new to the film world.

Beautiful shots. Particularly like the opening sequence. Hearing Debussy sparked a thought about symbolism and the essence of the Platoon soliloquy. I remembered Fleurs du mal (from my French degree) by Baudelaire (another symbolist) - a work on decadence in which he identifies Satan with the pseudonymous alchemist Hermes Trismegistus :

If rape and poison, dagger and burning,
Have still not embroidered their pleasant designs
On the banal canvas of our pitiable destinies,
It's because our souls, alas, are not bold enough!

    Love Debussy.

These: late night thoughts besotted by a bottle of Pinot Noir.

Philip - your music choice is always so perfect (apart from Dublins people :p ) This almost seems like a score for the piece. Love it.

what did you use for the shot at 0:30 - 0:40 ?
was it a camera crane or just shoulder mount movement?
