Welcome to Manoa Falls Trail, located in the Manoa Valley on O‘ahu. Performed by Dr. Samuel ‘Ohu Gon III, this oli is a standard call to Laka by students of hula. It confirms the connection between Laka and upland forest, and calls for inspiration to come to the students of hula, those that keep that important part of Hawaiian culture alive. Because of its sheltering symbolism, it can also be used to ask protection from harm or trouble, as before forest entry or any undertaking.
This video is posted as an interactive feature of the Manoa Falls Trail's interpretive signage. If you're in the area check out the other interactive signs around you, enjoy and safe hiking!
