Dungeness timelapse experiment with Canon 7d
3 months ago
Inspired by Tom @ Timescapes I went out to my favourite filming location in the UK, Dungeness on the south coast to see what I could get.
Please read my blog for just how hard it was and how bloody scary too!

another AMAZING job well done ...
you're the best.
grade color, textur, open minded...
i love this work.
cheers.
Cool opening shot, Phil. Great frame on that creepy old boat.
Like you said on Twitter Phil, what you really need is a warm woman or a cold beer at your side for timelapse.... or both. :)
why did you choose to shoot a time lapse with the 7D instead of your 2x 5D's which have lower image noise, especially in pitch black condidtions? you could have been shooting 2 different shots/angles simultaneously and been home sooner :)
or even 3 shots if you set up the 7D as well.
Did you film the opening waves at night too?
Love it how it looks almost like dust in the third shot, save from the stars obviously not appearing in the foreground, but still.
Really like the wide image as well,
Cheers.
So, what you think about 7D for timelapse?
Mr. Bloom, I give permission to quote this my testimonial on your web site.
My name is Kanim Allomin, with two L's.
I just got the 7D!!
I want ask you something, use 7d to shoot almost 10~15 min, the body starting warm. It's ok??
How long do you keep shooting with the the camera??
I want to see more :)
Found a dead pixel on the right side in the middle though. Red dot visible on the last and second before last shot.
Do you thing it is because the long shutter speed and/or high ISO setting or is it there even with normal exposure.
Keep up the good work.
Peter!
well picked up Peter on the dead / hot pixel ? I wonder if it was produced due to the lighthouse white pushing the sensor or what ?
What lenses and setting?
I´m going to buy my 7D before Christmas...
Congratulations for your works, are superb!
I don't have near the camera you use, but check these out!

The stars look amazing! Just wondering, were the stars and foreground shot separately and added together in post? If not, how did you manage to shoot it, keeping the DOF in that little light?
Cheers,
Jim
