This is a clip from a program I wrote that creates animated trees using OpenGL, GLUT, and C++.
The trees are actually modeled using L-Systems. L-Systems are sets of "re-writing" rules you define to construct all sorts of things from dragon curves to highly realistic foliage. In this program, you can rotate a tree with your mouse, adjust the volume of the tree foliage, and also change the leaf/branch colors.
I've actually used the trees rendered from this program in my other work.
