Thanks Peter! I just shot with the 5D2
    vimeo.com/6690556
was planning to use it but opted for the smaller and lighter camera, was also curious to see how the GH1 performs at nite.

What else can one say about this but EXCELLENT! I also shoot with the GH1 and I am impressed with the quality of your film. I wish you had let us download it so it can be viewed on a nice big HDTV. :o)
  • Mike Kobal plus 2 months ago
thanks RoberB1. just enabled the download, wait a little - replacing it with the typo fixed.
  •
  • RogerB1 plus 2 months ago
That was quick! Thank you so very much. I am downloading now to view on my 46 inch HDTV. I already know it will look just great on that. :o)

so it handels very well at night, do u travel with a portable lite kit or was was it all lit with existing, 2 it really looks good, i come to u for advice in my next purchase
    nilon d90
    or
    this camera
  • Mike Kobal plus 2 months ago
Rick, I was a bit nervous to use it for this shoot at first, the plan was to shoot with the 5D2 but A) I was very curious if the GH1 can handle night shoots, B) I wanted something more compact then the 5D and look less pro while shooting it. D90 or GH1, no comparison. go with the GH1, much, much better video camera. And you can use any lens (Nikon, Canon etc) via cheap adapters (around $80) on ebay.

mike thank u, man that was a fast reply it was like u were my neighbour across the fence and i shouted hey mike what do i buy, the thing is the mark 2 way out out of my price range but here in canada the nikon d90 1300 dollors with lens and the gh1- 2000 dollors, so i think i am going with the gh1
    thanks
    rick ash

Honeyfull pics Mike. Well and funny overdone acting. Good & nice model. GH1 you take also for lightweight trips and evenings even if you own a Canon 5D or 7D! I love my GH1 + pancake 17mm more and more. (loved this music also)

Great Mike! How did you get the fish-eye look with the GH1? If I remember well the micro 4/3 has a crop factor of 2.0X, so, if it's a fish-eye for the Lumix it would be a super fish-eye for a 35mm camera!
  • Mike Kobal plus 2 months ago
thanks Mattia. NDA until Oct 22nd on lens.

  • Mike Kobal plus 2 months ago
thanks! no, I haven't noticed any banding and I shoot 1600iso all the time.

Fantastic film, Mike. Congrats. I just got my camera with the 14-140 mm kit. The videos are great when I plug directly on TV. But after the compression and rendering it seems that it loses too much quality, maybe I'm using the wrong parameteres to convert and upload here. Could you tell me which resolution did you shoot and what program/file extension you choose for the convertion? Thanks a lot and keep the videos coming.
  • Mike Kobal plus 1 month ago
thanks Pedro. 720/60p converted with voltaicHD then fcp.
I agree. the footage is not very gradable copared to 5D2 or 7D. still a great little camera.
  • Pedro Burgos plus 1 month ago
Yep. Still, GH1 is the one that I have and I'll try to learn and get the most of it. Thanks for the tip on voltaicHD, just bought it.
