The Berlin Wall East Side Gallery is a 1.3 km-long section of the wall near the center of Berlin. Approximately 106 paintings by artists from all over the world cover this memorial for freedom and make it the largest open air gallery in the world.

great video. THANK you!
Where did you get the figure 218,283 for the escaped persons from? It's not an average figure obviously, so I would like to know the source of it.
Btw. the Wall in 1989 was not 155 KM (96 miles) in length. That was the length of the border between East Germany and West Berlin, but even by 1989 was not all of it "Wall". The Wall made up only 66 miles of that border, with 27 miles of it between West and East Berlin, 23 miles of that through residential areas.
Another figure: by August 1962 the border constisted of 7.5 miles brick wall and 91.7 miles of fences.
Last but not least. I added your video to the Vimeo Group "Berlin Wall", which I created a while ago :)
Cheers!
First of all thanks for add the video to the Vimeo Group "Berlin Wall" and for your precious informations and numbers.
Sincerly I don't remember the source of the figures: I made the video in the 1992!
Maybe a book about the wall...
We still have something like this wall in my country. I live in Seoul, Korea. Yes, South Korea.
Good job
There are still many walls in the world...inside and outside us.
