Sanyo Xacti HD1000
I decided to take the HD1000 out for a test, this was shot in 720P/60, edited on Ulead Video Editor to a DivX Codec @ a 5000 bitrate.
Settings Landscape/Sunny (everything else full auto)
i think this video outdid both my HG10 videos....

Glad you like your new camera :)
But you just trade a 15mbps (HG10) for a 12mbps (Sanyo)...
If you just learned how to configure your camera you would have awesome quality out of the HG10...
But the important is that you like it...
Cheers
You were doing a lot of turning and twisting and it was a little blurry at times but that is what my hv20 does, both your new camcorder and the hv20 don't have that extra motion sickness that the hg10 produced. It could just be the codec for the hg10, but your hd1000 out of the box looks good. And I liked looking at the city.
I look forward to seeing what you do with your new camcorder, have fun. Nice job on capturing the feel of the city.
It did take a few days to see what worked and what didn't work with my hv20. I remember first day walking with it and filming and being very discouraged, then by trial and error saw what worked and didn't work. Still learning how fast I can pan, and how fast I can zoom and I'm more aware of light. And I found I had to be VERY steady and hold the camcorder very still and pan, practice makes perfect (almost perfect, tripod is better)
p.s. change your tag from hd100 to hd1000 so more people will be alerted to your video and add high def so moderators can add it to High DEF channels. :)
I mean the movie is OK, but 600 bucks?
I read about this camera and no one was particulary impressed for the price it sells.
Perhaps next year other people get into a smaller camcorder market and the price will go down. I would not mind to have one in my pocket, but 200 bucks max what I would pay.
I use a still camera (canon sd800is) for my quick movies and only takes 800X ... 30fts and almost looks good as your video. You can pick those up for under 300 bucks and give you 7.1mp images as well. I record over 60 minutes on one SD card.
For quality I tape with hv20 and nothing can beat that.... for under 600 bucks/
