can someone explain why some of the footage is in 16:9 and some is in 4:3?

can't wait to get my hands on one.
  • Leigh Griffiths 2 years ago
ok ignore that last question, figured out why. when recording in 1080p mode, is there noticeable quality loss with raw footage compared to 960p?
  • GoPro sponsor 2 years ago
    Hi Leigh,

1080p is actually HIGHER quality than 960p, so you will get better quality with the raw 1080p footage. For an example of 1080p footage, watch this video below...but of course this is not true 1080p because you are watching it online. If you were at home with the video on your camera, you could watch the true 1080p raw version on your computer or plugging your HD HERO directly into your HDTV. The quality when playing the video directly from your camera through a TV is as good as any computer can show...it's unreal:

the hd cam is compatible with the succion mont cup?and with the last wide box?
  • GoPro sponsor 1 year ago
    Hi Alex,

I apologize for the delay in responding. The HD HERO is compatible with all current GoPro mounting accessories. However, the housing is not the same as the Wide HERO's, so it will not be compatible with non HD housings.

  • How is the stabilization for hand-held?
Does it have ability to use with some type of tripod?
Thanks for responding. Hope to get one for Christmas!
  • GoPro sponsor 1 year ago
    Hi Diana,

I apologize for the delay in responding to your question. If you use a Handlebar Seatpost Mount (aka, our Ride HERO) to mount your GoPro to a pole, it will increase stability and also create some great angle options. And, yes, we do have a Tripod Adapter available. Those accessories, along with our entire product line, can be found at goprocamera.com/products/?area=2

Please give us some info about what non-expensive video editor should we use for editing our GoPro HD clips.
  • GoPro sponsor 1 year ago
    Hello Constantin,

GoPro typically uses Final Cut Pro for its editing. For more information, as well as a portal to ask questions directly to GoPro Support, please feel free to visit goprocamera.com/contact

    Hi GoPro.

Why was this shot in 960P?

Does Full HD restrict the FOV too much for surf use?

Also, do you need to have a fin plug fitted to use it on the nose of the board? I know there's a suction mount but I'm kind of guessing that a leash to the mount from a fin plug is advisable also in case it should come unstuck. Can you confirm?
  • LudaChris 1 year ago
There's a glue down mount that I use. Would be a pain to remove it but I don't plan on it
  • GoPro sponsor 1 year ago
Both the adhesive mount, and the FCS plug, are great options for mounting your GoPro to your board. You will need your shaper/ding repair shop to install the FCS mount to your board, but some feel the final result is cleaner. Both mounting options are included in the HD Surf HERO, as well as the Surf Expansion Kit. Whichever solution you choose, just be sure to use the provided leash accessory.

Nice, but why did u reformat it??
  • GoPro sponsor 1 year ago
I'm guessing that, since this video contains both 720x1280 and 960x1280 (it was shot in multiple resolution modes - the HD HERO has 5 resolution modes to choose from), it was uploaded in 720x1280 to make the most out of the Vimeo player's screen.

The floater at around 3:25 is amazing. I've never seen a floater shot at that angle.
