I was lucky enough to witness God playing in the grass while I was on vacation in Florida.

Music by: Explosions In The Sky

NOTE: I highly recommend downloading the source video for this instead because the compression looks awful. My guess is it's because the video is sped up and there is lots of motion going on. It's a shame, I really like this video too :(

Nice dude... you are so intelligent with these... incorporating the chaos of the day time with sped up footage, seeing the fight that the grass has to put up, only getting rest when the sun sets, and the footage is at normal speed... muy inteligente!
  • Thank you friend. I knew you would look at it with an intelligent eye. "Only getting rest when the sun sets..." yes., exactly my thoughts. If you watch the higher res version, right when the turbulent piano kicks it I cut to these stalks that seem to play with the music. It was as if they were playing the keys along with it. I now know why they call it magic hour.

Explosions is sooo goooddddd!! Great footage.
  • Thanks jon I thought so too. I'm a newbie to "Explosions..." Still getting used to certain songs. But it's growing on me, and quickly. I'm glad you liked the visuals.

I'm glad you're getting into them. Such a great band to listen and just relax to.

    that was absolutely beautiful!
  • Thank you Boris. Did you happen to watch the higher res'd version or no? I really hope people watch that one instead. There is so much more clarity.

G'day Michael. That was great, especially with the wonderful soundtrack. I'm a sucker for wind in trees and grass and across water.

And like you, I've found it's very hard to find MPEG encoder settings that accommodate fine lines and lots of movement while still staying within the bandwidth budget.

Nonetheless, this is a neat film!
  • Thanks a lot Arnold. It's funny how some of the simplest and most mundane objects can just become beautiful when you film and observe them in the right ways and add the right music. Yea compression sucks. I'll have to keep this in mind when editing for next time.

Tell us what type of equipement/camera you are using to film. Everything is so vivid. It is almost surreal. Beautiful!
  • I use a Sony HDR FX1 to shoot with. That's about it. I edit with Final Cut Express 4 and Adobe After Effects CS3. Occasionally I'll hop into Photoshop but it's rare.

  • This is so beautiful. :-)
  • Thanks Karen. I thought so too
