In October 2012, Hurricane Sandy left a trail of devastation throughout the Eastern Seaboard.
The Scholars' Academy, a high-achieving public middle and high school in the Rockaways, suffered extensive damage, and was closed for almost 4 months. Students, teachers and families rallied together to rebuild.
6th grade students at Scholars' decided to make a documentary about their experiences in the hurricane and its aftermath. Working with Magic Box Productions Teaching Artists Alexis Raskin and Danilo Coleman, they envisioned the film as a personal letter - from the Rockaways to the world.
