This video was made by Steffen Bygebjerg in 2009 for the song "End Scene". The track is taken from Troels Abrahamsen's album WHT also from 2009.

The animation work was made in Adobe After Effects. Each frame was then printed and the print was subsequently scanned back into the computer. The scanned frames were then assembled back into the original animation, now with a new rugged look, created by the visit in the physical analogue world. No effects added after scanning.

Oh my god... that is awesome... What did you print on?
  • Steffen Bygebjerg 2 years ago
I just printed it on an old photocopier. But I printed each frame quite small and enlarged them (a lot) when I scanned them.
    Thanks!

Ah cool, see where the glitches and halftone comes in now, from the scalling and the motion blur. Great job. What about a dotmatrix with some processing genertaing out the audio/visual or trapcode soundkey? That would look cool. I guess there would be some obstacles but that would be fun.

Yeah the process of making the video was kinda backwards but also similar to the way Troels Abrahamsen worked on his album WHT. He first sketched the album up digitally and then he recorded the things again with live instruments (drums, bass guitar, analogue synthesizers and such) and then fine tuning it again digitally. So the basis of my idea was to mirror his working process.

this is incredible, its so simple with the fact thats its just shapes, yet the movement of the shapes timed to perfection with the beat is amazing, it must have taken you a very long time, i love it

Very nice work, perfect timing, the idea is very simple, but I think the realisation wasn't so easy. anyway, it's a very good video, and the music is fine.

Very nice. Love the grungy xeroxed look. Hand made labor intensive work often indicates a real passion and love of the medium. Congratulations.
