This week, President Obama said he’ll dedicate five billion dollars in grants to biomedical research. He made the announcement at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland, where he also toured an oncology laboratory. Meanwhile, the president is hosting a series of meetings with top officials to discuss strategy in Afghanistan. Obama reviewed next steps in the conflict with NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen at the White House on Tuesday. He also held a three-hour meeting with Cabinet members and senior officials on Wednesday. The president will join First Lady Michelle Obama in Denmark in an effort to convince International Olympic Committee members that Chicago should be the host city for the 2016 Olympic Games.
