Hey Adam, cool stuff! I just got a bluescreen setup in my basement, but haven't done much with it yet. I haven't found an acceptable green fabric at the fabric store yet ;)

Thanks Henry! You know, for a lot of the shots in the breakdown, I literally used the CHEAPEST fabric I could find.

The stuff is terrible, you can probably tell from some of the green screen shots when you see REALLY wrinkled fabric in the background, but you'd be surprised what you can get away with in After Effects (more specifically with the key light plugin).

Anyway long story short, don't wait too long to get that fabric, in the end its gonna be the lighting which makes or breaks it for your keying.

    Good luck!

This is awesome! Nice job on the keying. Do you use the normal default keying tool that comes with Premiere Pro or do you have a special plug-in for it?
  • Adam Palmer plus 3 months ago
Thank you Michel! Unfortunately you would never be able to get results like this using just Premiere (at least it would be very difficult).

All these shots were done in After Effects and the plugin I used for keying was called Keylight (comes with After Effects).

It's an incredibly powerful plugin as you can see!

Beautiful reel. I can't help but asking if Action Movie Essentials was used??
  • Adam Palmer plus 3 months ago
Thanks! Haha very good eye you have there! Yes I used Action Essentials 2 (2K version) for all the smoke/fire effects.
  • Snicket 3 months ago
Haha Thanks! I've been considering buying it, but I still haven't. It looks like you can get some great results.

It's pretty awesome, in retrospect the 2K version probably isn't very necessary, but it is nice knowing I'm covered in case I wanna go really big.

Yo Adam, I've got my cheap green fabric, After Effects CS3 couple of 800w red Heads and a Canon HG10. When you coming over to give me a tutorial as this is some coooool stuff. I've got a music Video project which requires a similar treatment but I've got to get my head around After effects.......HELP!!!
  • Adam Palmer plus 2 months ago
Haha I'm not quite ready to start making tutorials yet, but I would be very happy to answer any questions you have about the filming or post-production process. Just shoot me an email (contact info in description) anytime!

Your setup actually sounds exactly like mine, I use those 800w red head lights too (things are fricken fire hazard).

One thing that really helped me was these sheets of white plastic (diffuser material) I bought from a film supply store. They're really cheap, fire resistant (trust me you'll need that) and I just clip them directly onto the light itself to diffuse the hard shadows you get from those red heads.
