IEA Director of Government Relations Jim Reed reports on the Special Legislative Session that took place on June 19.
As a result of that session, a legislative conference committee is being assembled to develop a new legislative proposal on pensions.
The ten-member bipartisan committee is comprised solely of legislators designated by their legislative leaders.
From the Senate: Raoul, Holmes, Biss, Brady, Murphy
From the House: Nekritz, Zalewski, Turner Senger, Tracy
If the committee produces a recommendation supported by at least six of the ten committee members, that proposal would be submitted to the General Assembly. To become law, the proposal would have to be approved by the House and Senate and signed by the governor.
It is not known when the committee will meet. Please check the IEA website (ieanea.org) for updates.
