Dr. Scott Edwards is Curator of Ornithology at Harvard's Museum of Comparative Zoology (MCZ). While he maintains a neutral presence in the Ivory-bill debate, he was a contributor to a recent DNA comparison study, which finally determined that domestic Ivory-bills are a different species than their presumed extinct Cuban cousins. Here he describes the principle characteristics of Ivory-bills taken from the museum's vast collection of 61 specimens, the world’s largest.
