Snowstorm I shot in Uranium City, Saskatchewan in mid-September, 2000. The leaves were still on the trees when a two day storm came in and covered the whole area. I flew out a day after the storm but apparently all the snow melted and Uranium City had an Indian summer that lasted for almost all of October before it snowed again.
Uranium City is a town in the upper West corner of Saskatchewan, divided from the rest of the province by mammoth Lake Athabasca. A Cold War boom town in the '50s, it settled into a stable, growing town in the late '70s when many new buildings went up, a new school was built etc. When the Eldorado Mine abruptly announced it was closing in December, 1981, the population plunged from 4000 to 400 in just six months. Less than a hundred people live there now.
