Though it's true that we're saved by grace through faith alone (as we saw earlier in this series), we are not saved by a faith that is alone. True saving faith will always be accompanied by works. If it isn't, it's a dead faith that can't save. As James tells us, "Faith without works is dead" (James 2:26).

We consider two things:
* First, what kind of works James tells us must accompany faith.
* Second, how this is consistent with justification by grace through faith alone.

We are called upon to examine our lives and make sure that the works are there to indicate we have genuine saving faith.
