In 1971, a few visionary men saw a need for a specialized rescue unit in Washoe County, Nevada. Through much hard work and years of training and organization, the Hasty Team was formed.
The Hasty Team has the responsibility of handling rescues and recoveries that require a high level of search and rescue skill and experience. The Team responds to searches and rescues which can involve; aircraft accidents/incidents, swift-water and open-water, surface ice, dive, mines, high and low angle use of ropes and rigging, avalanche, missing persons both urban and back country and mantracking. Now the team has collaborated with advanced medical technicians (EMT basics, intermediates, Paramedics and Flight Nurses) through REMSA to provide advanced medical/trauma interim care to victims in need. These training exercises are paramount in regards to being successful for when the real day comes...most on the team are volunteers.
