Love it. Radically changing both the dimensional and time scales gives a whole different perspective on human activity.

    thank you!

hi, what type of timer do you use, is it the EOS software?
And how big is the GOP between photos?
  • Joe Nafis plus 2 years ago
the timer is software for the Canon Powershot cameras called CHDK. it has many uses including time lapse. the most common frame rate in this video was 1 frame every 2 seconds.

    Nice work !
I saw your work when I was Saigon last year, and I'm just beginning with tilt shift techniques here in Shanghai.
I think it will take me months before processing all that amount of pictures !
Did you use any script to make it faster ?
  • Joe Nafis plus 1 year ago
haha thanks!! yes, for this video i used CHDK to run an intervalometer script on the powershot. you can download it here: chdk.wikia.com/wiki/CHDK

Great vid! I don't suppose there's a tilt shift script in CHDK?
  • Joe Nafis plus 10 months ago
thanks! but no, there is not a tilt-shift script for CHDK. you can run the photos through either PS or AE to fake the effect which has been done on this video.

very well done! Tilt Shift effect is such a perfect match to time lapses!
It appears to me that you were using genuine T-S lens, am I correct?
  • Joe Nafis plus 6 months ago
thanks! the camera used was actually a small point and shoot, so the effect is faked using PS and AE.

Great job! Shanghai is awesome source for this kind of stuff, unluckily I never had time there to arrange some videos and photos, but you did, and you did it very good, 1:32-1:49 is my favourite part: boats and ships on water are too nice!
