"Damien K. Sahri - Rock On The Moon" by Bastien Choury
including Remixes by Sonja Moonear / Seuil & David K. on:
Rock on the Moon was created by a direct, powerful and sudden inspiration. A few months ago in the sweaty jungle mood of a deep underground Berlin party.
That night, Sonja Moonear brought be somethings that is quite hard for me to find and when she took the decks , well, I knew I was getting the real deal. Records after records, she fired a blend of low bass, heavy techno rhythms and a wide array of different acoustic and sonic influences such as Jazz, Hip-hop or Rock n'roll. My favorite.
Went home right after her set and worked on music for a day straight. This was the birth of "Rock on the Moon". Rock for the Guitars of my childhood friend Roman Azzaro recorded in my home studio and Moon is for Sonja and where she took me that night. Thank you !
My two other collaborators have also been a deep influence for me, Seuil which I have been following for a long time and whom I have recently really connected with is one of the artist I respect the most right now and David K. is pretty much the most well rounded producer I know (and in addition to his amazing cooking), he showed me a way to make music that really took me to another level. Thank you both !
Working at Stattbad, my inspiration didn't stop at the music, I had to make a video in the 7000m2 of disaffected swimming pools and machine rooms of this amazing cultural center. Bastien Choury, my great video artist friend, flew over with a 30kg steady cam system, I negotiated an astronaut costume from a Theatre / Kunst company and we wandered through the darkest corners of this artistic heaven. Thank You Bastien for adding such a strong visual message to my music and RiotArt for making it possible !
There was no better team that I could trust with my project, that the one that has been supporting me from the beginning and I am proud to be the first release of such a promising organization.
