On June 6th - 9th 2013 a group of 12 dedication Volunteers from the Vancouver Island Chapter of the SURFRIDER FOUNDATION went to RUGGED POINT PROVINCIAL PARK in British Columbia to remove and monitor marine debris. As part of the COMBING THE COAST initiative, the SRF V.I Chapter chooses a remote beach on the Westcoast of BC every year to take samples and add to a database to help identify refuse problems.
This year we removed over 1500 Lbs of waste, and of that we were able to recycle roughly half!
