TURBO is a high adrenaline short film in the tradition of The Karate Kid and Tron. It tells the story of Hugo Park (Justin Chon, Twilight) a misspent youth whose only outlet for angst is a 4D fighting videogame called “Super Turbo Arena”. When Pharaoh King (Jocko Sims, Crash the Series), the Michael Jordan of cyber-sports, announces a tournament to determine who will join his pro-team, Hugo sets his eyes on the prize. But, Hugo isn't the only gamer who wants fame and glory. If Hugo wants to win he's going to have to beat Shamus (David Lehre, Epic Movie), the all time Turbo champ at the local Pandemonium arcade, and Ruse Kapri, a feisty prep girl that knows how to win. Realizing he can't win on his skill alone, Hugo turns to his brother Tobias a former kick-boxer whose last match left him wheel-chair ridden. Together the two will mend old wounds and see if a washed up street fighter can teach a troubled teen how to become a virtual gladiator!

Great job to you and your team.
Althought on the scene with the flying cars shouldn't the flying cars be light streaks like the normal cars?
(all though I have 1 point: the effect on the voices of the in-game caracters was a bit lacking style and originality. especially when the movie itself is way cool.. but sound comes last in most productions so I understand)
I've been waiting to see this for what seems like ages since David has been talking about it.
Pretty much everything about this movie was spot on!
I can't wait to see more of your works in the future.
But seriously guys, awesome.
i throughly enjoyed every minute.
But I was seriously impressed with everything else.
Respectfully Sarkey One
Respectfully Mark One
I had only a few problems with it, and that was with the "villain" and the fact that this short suffered from "short film that wants to be a feature."
First I'll discuss the villain. I didn't have a problem with the character himself but I was upset with the casting choice. In no way, shape or form did I find him intimidating, plus he just didn't give a great performance. He really did try his best though, he really tried to be badass but I could just tell that the actor himself was nothing of a badass sort.
Now with the film, it has an extremely high concept, something you'd see in a Hollywood blockbuster which a multi-million dollar budget. I don't feel like the world we dived into was fully realized only because they didn't have enough time to realize it in the screen time but it definitely is present and whispers to us. I can definitely see this short being turned into a feature. Original content is always nice :-D
Good VFX! Very dynamic transitions. I really enjoyed the montage of the tournament and the fights were good though the effect for the kicks and punches got a little generic and looked the same aside from a color change but great camera and lighting, though the audio (in spots) needed some work.
Oh, one more thing before I end my rant. Though I felt generally the performances all around were decent (aside from the villain), I felt some more time could have been spent on them. The only thing really lacking from this short were the performances, though they were better than some of the stuff I saw this summer. I really enjoyed the John Chon (the lead), I remember seeing him in "Twilight" and he was certainly a different character here in "Turbo."
Visually and imaginatively I think Jarrett has a future ahead of him :-D
Good job!
I'll be ordering a copy ASAP.
my friends are definitly gonna hear about this.
the only bad thing was due to it being a short movie, and not a full length movie.
Would like to see a sequel of sorts.
It can play in the cinema!
I predict they will pick it up and re-broadcast as a pilot.
Really great work. What were the production costs?
What sort of sunglasses were those wraps?
Hope there is a sequel or something.
How long did it take you guys to finish this?
