World-wide Run-for-Relief events are held to raise awareness and funds for humanitarian relief efforts in oppressed areas of Burma. On June 15, 2013, the second annual Bung Klung Run for Relief was held on the Thai-Burma border village starting in front of the AlasKaren training center and circling back to finish next to the Bung Klung church in plain view of a Burma Army post 1 Km away. Youth ran just less than 400 meters while the older athletes completed 3.2 Km. Award medals were made of local, high quality red hardwood left over from the AlasKaren training center construction.
