If body is the first casualty of capitalist production, then it is also, logically, the first line of defence. Why is this so? By withdrawing from, or disturbing, the physical routine of the worker, new possibilities for resistance, and resistant strategies, can emerge: artistic labour is one of these resistant strategies par excellence. We hope to demonstrate and build a platform of resistance using the potential of artistic labour as our main resource. The aim of the performance is to creatively re-stage three seminal performances from the 1960′s, 1970′s and 1980′s respectively. These performances are Richard Serra’s, ‘Splashing’ ( 1969), Bruce Nauman’s ‘Body Pressure’ ( 1974) and Matthew Barney’s ‘Drawing Restraint 6′ (1989).
