Curious that all your crabs seem to have been female--not a jimmy in the batch that I could see. How do you account for that, Zack?

Good eye! This was my first time eating home cooked crabs so I'm not sure, but the folks we had them with were surprised that they were even allowed to catch that many females considering the fact that they are all prego and whatnot. It could have something to do with the season but I'm not sure.

We went to the place and asked for 3 dozen and they bagged em up and handed them to us.

You're right, of course, about limits on harvesting females related to the spawning season , but what strikes me as truly odd is that you ended up with nothing but females. Smacks of sexism down at your local crab market, but I can't quite puzzle it out. All that aside, though, you made my mouth water!
