I was invited to the friends and family night this weekend with the Los Angeles Astronomical Society. It was a star viewing night in the mountains outside of Los Angeles. I just got a new camera a few days before. I figured I would give time lapse a try while I was out there. This is my first attempt, I am pretty happy with the results.

Canon EOS 60D
Canon EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Standard Zoom Lens
Image Stabilization On
Manual Focus
f/3.5
18mm
ISO 400
30 second exposures with 30 seconds in between exposures using Aputure Timer Remote 1C
shot in .jpg format (wanted to try RAW but forgot to set it up)
198 frames recorded in a little over 3 hours

If you are interested in the stars and are in the LA Area I recommend looking into the LAAS and Burbank Sidewalk Astronomers. I met them for the first time last Wednesday. They are a nice group of people and very welcoming.
