Eurosport blogger Felix Lowe and Cycle Gran Canaria guru Raymond Leddy take on the fearsome Valley of the Tears. Described by Ray as 'dangerous, dark and evil' and 'the most villainous piece of road building contrived by man', the VOTT is a 130km round trip boasting a total vertical gain of more than 3,000 metres. With a maximum gradient of 27% and one unforgiving switchback section dubbed 'The Devil's Guts', this is a route that more than often lives up to its name. On his second winter training session out in Gran Canaria with his unofficial trainer Ray, 'Ze Fake German', Cinzano-clad cyclist Felix is really put through his paces and – following a pre-climb meal of tuna and chips – lives up to the name of his alter ego Blazin' Saddles.
