As part of our NYC NoSQL Fall '09 mini-conference, Bryan Fink of Basho Technologies was nice enough to give a short presentation of his company's riak product.

This is shaped by the Amazon Dynamo document, and provides a decentralized key-value store with map/reduce and HTTP/JSON queries making it ideal for web apps.

And of course, no SQL.

You can see the full slides from Bryan's talk including his comments at:

Have been debating on various document-databases/key-value stores (couchdb, mongoDB, and riak).

The overview you provided was great. Especially the part about 'Links' as that remains one of my concerns with couchdb, in being able to link documents together in some manner.

One thing to maybe add to the presentation is a small overview on replication of document clusters.

Hey, Morgan. Glad you enjoyed the presentation. Links are one of our favorite structures. They're so simple, yet enable so much power.

Inter-cluster replication is definitely near the top of the list of next-video topics. This presentation just couldn't fit it, given the time constraints. Watch the Basho Blog (blog.basho.com) for updates.
